August 2014 - Part II

We landed in SLC at midnight on August 13.  The next morning we met at a park for family pictures and to begin the Mays family reunion!  I took a few shots with my phone during the photo shoot.

My parents and their 8 grandbabies :)

We ate lunch and then headed to a little fun center that had rides and games for the kids...and for KC.

We rented a cabin at Brighton for the reunion this year.  Great weather and beautiful scenery.

Retelling the Orca-Cat-Bat story and the unveiling of the
official Orca-Cat-Bat t-shirt, designed by Arsene.

One day we went to Jordanelle Reservoir and had to pass through Park City.
Pearl and Coby were delighted to see a "P" and "C" on the mountain for Pearl and Coby.  ;)

Say Orca-Cat-Bat!!

We saw deer and moose!

Rock painting and a piñata for Annie's (the dog) birthday.

Happy Birthday Jay!!

Hottubbing and two cute baby boys: Matthew and Clayton.

Laura wants to marry Coby.  This is how they walked to church. :)
We attended sacrament meeting at a chapel in Brighton. We were surprised that Marvin Goldstein was there! He did a musical sacrament meeting that was really impressive.

After the Mays family reunion, we went to Heber to spend the night with Ackerson's.
We got to attend Bentley and Emma's piano recital.

Pearl and her closest-in-age cousin, Ali.  Pearl LOVES this girl.

 A trampoline sleepover!
They lasted most of the night out there but got cold at about 4:00 a.m. ;)

After Heber we went to Logan to meet baby Roz (and to visit Kenz and Preston of course ;)   We stopped in Ogden on the way for the temple open house.  Pearly and Coby were so excited to go inside a temple for their very first time.  I attended this temple when I was in college.  They totally remodeled the outside.  It looks completely different and so, so beautiful.  I was surprised how reverent Coby was in the temple.  At one point he whispered to me "this looks like a palace for a prince!"

Sweet Baby Roz :)

From Logan we went to Price for just a few days.  It is always nice to go "home."

 Playing at Castle Heights Elementary.
It was fun to see them playing on the very same equipment that I played on at their age.

 Saying goodbye to Annie.

Back in McAllen at a cute cupcake shop.  Celebrating the last weekend before school starts!

The first day of Kindergarten and First Grade!
School started August 25th.  Pearl and Coby both go from 8:00 - 3:30.

"We've got this!"
Coby was nervous the first few days but he has really fed off of Pearl's confidence and enthusiasm for 1st Grade.  He has adjusted to kindergarten much more easily than Pearl did last year.  They have the same lunch hour.   Pearl has Ms. Cantu and Coby has Ms. Ramirez.  So far we are happy with both teachers.

Pearl was extra excited to not only have the same teacher as her best friend Kirra, but to sit at the same table as well!  (They have since been separated as you probably anticipated ;)    Coby nervously clutching his shirt as I said goodbye to him.  So hard to leave your little ones on the first day!!

Naturally I checked on them both during lunch, to make sure they were surviving :)  The school is so close that I run up a few times each week and have lunch with my cuties.  What did I do with my first day being childless at home?  I had a good cry, bought a Neil Diamond album on iTunes, and then proceeded to happily clean and organize my messy closet, completely interruption-free :)  Later in the week I guiltily turned on "You've Got Mail" while I folded the laundry.

Kirra and Pearl.  Can you see why they were separated??

School has started but the weather is still HOT.

The striped kids, off to another day of school.

Walking the track with friends during Pearl's soccer practice.

Friday afternoon at the Jone's house.  They were swimming when it started lightning and pouring!!  They were suppose to get dressed but had an underwear party in the process.

Later that evening there was a beautiful rainbow!
 Friends in the back seat.
The kids had school on Labor Day but we let them miss to spend a day at Schlitterbahn water park.  (We had passes that we had to use ASAP or they would expire.)  It was a great decision...perfect weather and no lines at all!!
