September 2013

Now that we are almost through October, I thought I better blog September!  September was a month of adjusting to Pearly being in school.

Good thing we had lots of fun company to help us get through the month!
Keenan had a rotation in San Antonio so Brittani and the kiddos flew out from Milwaukee to hang out with us for a few weeks.  Gram, Papa and Beth also flew in from Utah.  We all met at a little resort in  San Antonio.

Face painting at the hotel.

I didn't get a close up of Coby's arm, but his painting, at his request, is a shark with bloody teeth :s  Pearl and Camden chose something more pleasant.

Watching Despicable Me outside the resort.  We enjoyed the swimming pools and marshmallow roasting as well.  :)

A fun but hot day at Sea World. We hit the best shows, road some rides, and ended up at the water park to cool off.

No Sea World trip is complete without KC winning a giant prize on the basketball shoot.  This time he won a teddy bear as big as Coby.  Most of our Sea World prizes end up "disappearing" from the house while Pearl and Coby aren't looking.  This bear is wearing a Lebron James jersey though so we will have to keep him.

More rides.  Where are the pictures of the sea life??
Hmmm.  I guess we have been to Sea World too many times...

Snuggle bugs :)  Coby adores his daddy.

Coby's first day of preschool was September 3rd.   He was a little nervous to go but went bravely with no tears (thankfully!!).  He goes to Lynn Flowers, where Pearl went last year.  His teachers are Ms. Joyce and Ms. Sara.  He goes from 9:00 to 12:00, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Gram and Camden came with me to take Coby on his first day.  We got there a little early so he could look for bugs under the stones (he remembered this from when Pearl was is school).

Was so fun to have family at our house!!

We took a day trip to the island.  Had a few nice hours and then a huge rainstorm hit and we ran for cover and headed home.  I guess it was still worth the hour drive to get there??

Keenan was able to come to McAllen and stay one night with us.  We ended up babysitting twin baby boys that night.  So be careful if you come to visit us...we will probably put you to work ;)

Camden went to ballet with Pearl.  And we got to tour the new church building that is almost finished!! Below are the kiddos in what will be our new primary room!!

A little children's museum here in town.

The Atwood family reunited in San Antonio before Britt and the babies headed back to Milwaukee.

We took a quick trip to The Alamo before they boarded their plane.

I took Pearl and Coby to see the "Tower of the Americas" that overlooks San Antonio before we headed back to McAllen.  It was pretty ghetto but they didn't care.   It had a little ride on the top and a restaurant that served ice cream so they were super happy.

Brittani's cute short haircut inspired my return to short hair!

Coby keeps getting certificates at school for being a good boy.  He got this certificate because all of the other boys were pushing and he wasn't.  Haha.  He was so proud of himself!  He hangs all of his certificates on the wall.  ;)

Below is Coby entertaining himself without Pearl.

End of September and temperatures have dropped to a cool 95 on average ;)

My attempt at getting a few good pictures to display at the new church building open house.  Not great pictures but these are some of my cute primary kiddos :)

By the end of September, Pearl was getting more comfortable with school.  I drop her off a few minutes before 8:00 and pick her up at 3:35.  I think the long day combined with her perfectionist/pleaser personality made the first several weeks really stressful for her.  She would sit so still on the rug that her legs would fall asleep!  She never wants to get in trouble and is always worried about everyone else not following the rules.   Also the kids seem to speak mostly Spanish at lunch and on the playground and that is hard for her.  Coby and I try to eat lunch with her a few times a week, which she loves.  By the end of the month she was no longer sitting on my lap covering her ears during lunch and begging me to take her home.  So we are making progress ;)
