I have to get May pics posted before June is over! :s
Coby doing what he does best ;)
At the Children's Museum in Brownsville (1 hour from McAllen)
Face painting at the annual Thurmond Eye summer picnic. She told us after the party that people kept taking pictures of her :) She was quite a cute little bunny.
Coby wanted me to take a picture of him too. He did not want his face painted.
The magical swing at the picnic. It takes you wherever you wish to go.
Kept them occupied for a good long time ;)
Pearl turns 5 1/2!! It was Sunday and I had forgotten that I told her we could make a cake with 5 1/2 candles. Had to borrow some frosting and candles, but we made it. She was so excited. We had people over for dinner that night and I think they thought we were a little weird when we sang "Happy half birthday to you." When you only have two kids, you can celebrate half birthdays too. :) :) I straightened Pearl's hair for the first time that day. She got lots of attention about her hair at church, much to her delight ;)
Pearl doing the Family Home Evening lesson that she made by herself. She likes to secretly pick out a picture and then find props to go with it. She keeps everything hidden until it is time for the lesson so we will all be surprised. This time she even brought a step she could stand on to tell the story.
I hate these HUGE suckers. Pearl and Coby always want them and they inevitably get stuck in Pearl's hair. She talked Daddy into buying her this one.
Coby with a bad cold. His nose runs like a hose and he goes
through a million tissues per minute when he is sick. :(
A great time at Disney on Ice. It was Cars, Toy Story 3, Little Mermaid, and Tinkerbell. I loved the look on Pearl's face during the show. Priceless. We've got to take these kids to Disneyland! Coby enjoyed it too but it got a little long for him. Towards the end he said "Mom, do you have something I can play with??" I was like, "Um, no. Watch the giant Buzz Light Year skating around right in front of you!"
A quick, overnight trip to the beach.
We love the feeling of blazing out of town on a Friday night, headed for the island.
We finally were able to climb the stairs to the light house. It has strange operating hours and we have never made it while it was open. As we started climbing the stairs Coby said "I can't believe I'm actually doing this! I've waited my whole life for this!" It was a little bright at the top ;)
Pearl is taking piano lessons. It is fun to practice with her and she doesn't resist too much ;)
This was a picture-worthy truck in Coby's eyes, parked outside the gym.
Pearly on her last day of preschool!!! They had a luau to celebrate the last day. A fun year for her. Don't know that she learned a ton, academically speaking, but I think it was a good little prep for kindergarten. Kindergarten here is all day, 8-3:30. :s I'm not looking forward to that at all!!!
Pearl and Ms. Tracy
For Pearl's last day of school celebration, Coby, Pearl and I had a "slumber party." I had to laugh to myself at how excited they were about this. :) We watched Jumanji, had popcorn, and went to sleep ;)
This I found written on Coby's wall. When I questioned him he said "Remember when you said I could do whatever I wanted with my walls?"
Um, no. I don't recall saying that. Luckily it wasn't permanent marker and it washed right off.
I love finding papers with COBY written on them all over the house. Too cute.
Pearly and her friend Kirra playing dress-up
They built a new track around the elementary school near our house. It had rained the night before so there were puddles and mud but the track was dry. Our first loop around the track Pearl tripped and dove right into a mud puddle. I was couldn't help but laugh. We are always chuckling at Pearl...she is quite klutzy. Coby is REALLY into legos and lincoln logs these days. Fun to watch him spend a lot of time building things. He gets SO mad when something crashes or breaks apart though. Through tears he will say something like "I could never build that again!! That is the only thing I've ever built that I really loved!!" :s

OH MY GOODNESS!! COBY is HILARIOUS!! I can't stop laughing at that Cute Little GUY!
