August 2012

Warning:  a long post :)  A cute picture I had on my phone of Pearl and Coby at KC's work party from earlier in the summer.  The party was at a nature center in McAllen.
The spray gun KC bought in Lubbock came in handy one more time...
KC is actually asleep in this picture.  He really can sleep through ANYTHING!!
Pearl making sure Baby Anna is safe :)
The first week of August, we all had a stomach virus :(  One night poor Pearly was up sick all night.
Two nights later Coby was up sick all night :(
I like this picture of him curled up ON his pillow ;)  Yes, he is 3 and still sleeps in a crib :s  We really should think about getting him a bed soon...
Everyone recovered from sickness just in time to head to Utah for 2 weeks!!  (Hence the really long post ;)  We had been looking forward to this trip ALL summer.
We stayed with the Moore's for a few nights before heading up to a house at Bear Lake with the Mays family.

The weather was perfect up in the mountains of Bear Lake.  Was so nice to be outside without melting!

My cute parents and the view from the cabin balcony.
We rented a boat and jet skis one day.  Was fun to ski although the water was COLD and not the smoothest.  Somehow 6 kids and 5 adults ended up on the boat together.  1 adult to drive, 2 to hold the babies, 1 skiing, and 1 holding the flag and watching the other 4 kids :s  Not the best planning but it worked out ;)
One night the girls went to see Forever Plaid at Pickleville Playhouse.  I was called up from the audience to play one hand of Heart and Soul on the piano and then had to stay up there while the guys sang and danced around me.  SO embarrassing!!!
One day we took the kids to ride go carts.  Does this appear very unsafe to anyone else??

The annual boys v girls dictionary game.  The girls have a winning streak of many years.
Raspberry milkshakes.  Mmmm.  My aunt from Virginia and her daughter and boyfriend came to Bear Lake with us.  It was nice to see them after several years.
My parents planned a pirate activity for the grandkids.  My dad is waving a big pirate flag.  They had 4 very eager participants as you can see. :)
After the Mays reunion we headed to Heber for a Bentley reunion.  We celebrated Papa's birthday there.

Coby fell asleep on Gram's lap at church.  So sweet!!
Pearly and Abby
Chair lift to the Alpine slides in Park City, Utah

Papa cooked dutch oven.  The cobbler was amazing!!

After the family reunions we headed to Price, Utah (where KC and I grew up) for a few days.  We had to have a swim at the wave pool while we were there :)

It was SO fun to meet baby Eli Ackerson for the first time and to get to spend so much time with him.  Isn't he adorable??

When it came time to head to the airport to fly back to Texas, Coby was not happy.  I had told him the night before we were leaving the next day.   He was busily playing though and I think he had forgotten because when I told him it was time to load up he burst into tears. :(  So sad!!!  Pearl and Coby LOVE Utah.  I wish they could be around family more often :(
He quickly recovered and enjoyed the journey home.  On the 3-hr flight from Salt Lake City to Houston, Pearl and Coby both fell asleep on my lap (one head on each leg) for almost the entire flight!!  Utah wore them out :)
We arrived home Friday night and hosted the ward luau at our house the next night.  Pearl and Coby were big helpers getting ready of course ;)
Our Bishop killed a pig that some of the guys in the ward roasted.
Lots of people came.  The luau was for church members as well as neighbors and friends.  We ended up with about 150 people.
Pearl got in on a little of the dancing :)
We rented a big waterside that the kids at the luau enjoyed.  It only deflated a few times when the breaker flipped off :s  Yikes!!
The next weekend I headed to Las Vegas to meet up with some of my high school friends (actually we were friends WAY before high school!!  I became friends with one of these girls when I was 5 yrs old!).  We were suppose to be a group of 8 but it dwindled to 4 who actually made it.  We had a blast though.  Below is us after the Cirque du Soleil show Love (The Beatles music).  We stayed at the Trump, went shopping, got pedicures, went to the Las Vegas temple, ate out, and TALKED :D
Cheesecake factory.  Yum!
