May 2014

Looking for bugs before preschool.

Pearl and Ethan.  Ethan is our friend/neighbor.
He walked Pearl from kindergarten to my car every day after school.
He was her "big brother" this year.

Ready to start the Shimotsu Elementary Fun Run!! It was a 2 mile run with an obstacle course at the end.  Pearl and KC took off running.  Coby loafed along, complaining the whole way.  He kept saying "why is everyone running up the road, just to run back again?"  Good point.  We decided to just cut across the street and wait for KC and Pearl.  Coby happily played with a bug while he waited.

The obstacle course and mud pit at the end were a lot of fun.

Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

Practicing his casting in the pool ;)

Love her cheeks :)

I don't have pictures of KC and Coby at the Fathers and Sons outing :(
But us girls had a little party while they were gone.

The kids loaded the dishwasher for me on Mother's Day :s
I think their mother hasn't trained them very well.

A flight to Milwaukee for Keenan's medical school graduation.
I love how Coby can fall asleep just about anywhere.

A short trip but fun to see family and cousins.

Such a big day!  Keenan became a captain in the Air Force and a doctor all in one day. :)

The Cheesecake Factory afterward was a hit.

Wisconsin Cheeseheads headed home.

Coby's last day of PRESCHOOL!  He was not one bit sad about this.

This is Coby's teacher, Ms. Joyce.  On the last day of school I handed Coby a gift and told him to give it to Ms. Joyce.  He said "Which one is she again?"  He was in her class all year and didn't know what she looked like??

Kindergarten Award Ceremony.
Pearl with her teacher, Ms. Hinajosa.  Pearl earned every award possible this year, minus the attendance award.  They don't give you that when you have 19 absences.

Pearl was so excited that Daddy left work for an hour to come to her awards ceremony.  She thinks KC is a super hero, pretending to be a doctor.  A few days before, she watched him push a stalled car out of an intersection.  She always feels his biceps and tells him how strong he is.  She said in all seriousness, "When Daddy comes to my school, everyone is going to say 'Wow! That is the strongest man alive!'"

Kinder graduation party at Chuck E Cheese.  Kindergarten graduation is a big deal here in The Valley...and a big deal means that you go to Chuck E Cheese.

Coby turns 5!  We celebrated Coby's 5th birthday a few weeks early. He wanted a pirate pool party.

The kids had school on Memorial Day.  The handful of us white folks at the school (our ward basically) wanted to actually celebrate Memorial Day so we had our kids ditch school and headed to the island.  It was a BEAUTIFUL day! Oh how I've missed summer days at the beach :)

Bishop Nelson helped Coby catch his first fish.

Trolling around in our swimming pool, waiting for Pearl to come home from school one day.

Field day at Pearl's school.  She looks good with a basketball ;)

My parents sent Coby a metal detector for his birthday.  I took him "hunting for treasure" one afternoon while Pearl was at school.  It was over 100 degrees and we could only stand being outside for 10 minutes.  He was thrilled with this treasure though...

Pearl's LAST day of kindergarten!!  I don't know who was happier, Pearl, Coby, or me. The second half of the year was definitely better than the first half, but we were still SO glad to be done!!

We went to the community pool with friends on the last day of school.  Now that he can swim, Coby finally conquered this water slide.  (They are not allowed to use life jackets or be caught at the bottom of the slide...such a dumb rule.)   Coby was so proud of himself :)

We introduced Pearl and Coby to Nacho Libre as a last-day-of-school-movie-night.  Now they want to be famous luchadores too.  I'm thinking about putting these pictures in their high school year book one day.
