June 2013

Fertilizing.  And KC wonders why his neck is always sore :s

Filling up water balloons for Coby's 4th birthday party.

We had an "Army Party" at our house on the Saturday before Coby's birthday.  What started out as a small party quickly grew out of control (I blame KC) and we ended up inviting the whole ward and most of the neighbors.  We ended up having 70 people at our house for Coby's party :s  And yes, he got A LOT of gifts.

The water slide looked smaller in the picture online.  Coby was terrified of it.  He only went down once, cried, then didn't go again.  All the other kids sure enjoyed it though!

The only shots I got during the actual party.  We had water gun and water balloon fights, a piñata (living on the border of Mexico, my kids think piñatas are essential for a birthday party), dinner, and cake.

June 3rd, Coby's actual birthday.  KC had work meetings that evening so we woke Coby up early that morning to open his gifts before KC left for work.

Pearly and I cheering on King James during the NBA Finals!

Pearl and Coby want a pet.  I thought maybe a bird wouldn't be too bad??  They are now saving money in "the bird jar."

Feeding catfish and playing in the back yard with friends.

I helped Pearl and Coby and some friends make these people:

                          Pearl's                                                                              Olivia's

Liza's Harry Potter                                                 and Coby's, uh, person??

Singing and dancing in the rain

A day trip to the beach with friends.

Pearl took a two-week swim course at Aqua Tots.  In her class it was her and 3 10-yr-old boys :s  She didn't seem to mind.  She continues to love swimming and learned some different strokes in her class.  Coby (who is afraid to put his face in the water) didn't want to do lessons so we let him off the hook.  It cracks me up how, at age 4, he can still fall asleep anywhere...especially if he has his favorite blanket.

This is Pearl at the doctor's office.  We waited 2 hours for Coby's 4-yr-old check up and shots.  As we waited Coby mentioned to me "If that nurse comes in here and points that shot needle at my leg, I'm gettin' outta here!"  He is always trying to be funny so I thought he was joking.  But when the nurse came in, he really did try to bolt!  I had to hold him down with all my strength while he got his vaccines :(  It was awful!  My worst experience with shots yet :( :(   Coby was in the 97th percentile in weight and height, which was down from last year's 98th percentile.  He is a big boy!  Especially here in the Valley :D

Dog sitting for a weekend.  Not something I want to get into the habit of doing, but Coby was in heaven and the dog actually was pretty good.

Pearl ready to go to a ward activity.  It was a sing-off and bake-off.

Pearl and her friend Kirra sang "Let's Get Together" from the movie The Parent Trap.  They won the "Rising Stars" award and were so proud.

Coby, who hates the thought of being on stage, wanted to enter the baking contest.  I helped him make Reese's peanut butter cup cookies and he won 2nd place.  While we were making the cookies Pearl kept telling him that he was the greatest baker in the whole world, and that he was going to win for sure.  So I was happy (and surprised) that he won!  He carried this gift certificate for a free pizza all night and even fell asleep with it...he was so proud.

Some Reese's cups and a story for Father's Day :)

So far this has been a summer full of snow cones :)

And cold root beer isn't bad either...

I really wanted to get a pedicure before KC and I went to San Antonio for our anniversary but didn't have the chance to get away alone.  I ended up taking Pearl, Coby, and Kaelyn (a girl I was babysitting) with me.  Coby, Pearl, and Kaelyn got their first pedicures. :)  They kept telling Coby how handsome he was and that he looked like Justin Timberlake.   Haha.  Coby had no idea what they were saying (with their accents) and he kept asking me to translate.

Our 12th Anniversary!!  We took off after KC got out of work Friday afternoon.  We drove to San Antonio and ate at yet another great restaurant on the river walk.  We stayed the night at The Westin, went to the temple in the morning, did some shopping, and then drove home.  It was such a fun little trip.  We had four hours each way to talk, laugh and enjoy listening to all of the songs (mostly good country music ;) that we liked in high school.

A dozen roses and a dozen years.  Time goes by so quickly!!

A strawberry party.  Making strawberry jam and strawberry lemonade.

Fun with friends at the pool!  Somehow this very nice pool is never crowded??

Coby looking cute in his hat, and playing with a dog at the pet store :)
