March 2011

**This skating picture was actually from January at an Alliance skating party we had. It was Pearl's first time skating and she LOVED it! KC pulled her around the entire night. :) I took this picture on my phone because I forgot my camera and I just barely figured out how to get pictures from my phone.
One night Pearl asked me if she could stay up a few more minutes listening to music. When I came back to tell her it was bedtime, I found her asleep on the floor.
We have had some VERY warm days in March. Several where the temperature has reached 80. Warm enough to strip down and run through the sprinklers!
With such warm weather, a trip to Target for sandals was in order! I found it humorous that Pearl's sandals were size 7/8 and Coby's were size 8.
Pearl, Coby and I took a big trip to Utah March 5th - 16th. KC was at a board prep course in San Antonio for 8 of those days, so don't feel too bad thinking we left him alone that long!! Grandpa gave jeep rides to all the grandkids.
Coby was 100% thrilled.
For a few days while we were in Utah, my sisters and their daughters came and stayed at my parents' house too. While we were all gathered, Grandma threw a birthday party for her dog SweetPea, who turned something like 115 in dog years. Pearl (age 3), Laura (2 1/2), Caroline (22 mos), and Coby (21 mos) LOVED it of course. We decorated the big tree in the backyard, played games ("ring around the rosies", "london bridges", and "I have a little doggie), ate pizza, and then frosted cupcakes. Although she couldn't express it, I know SweetPea felt very
special. :)

Grandma with all of her grandbabies watching GiggleBellies "Wheels on the Bus" on the computer.
Grandpa never tires of entertaining. Pogo-ing at 54! Not bad!
While in Utah, we took a trip to Salt Lake City to visit the Hogle Zoo. Despite the weather being a little chillier than we were dressed for, we had a really fun time. Pearl and Coby loved seeing the animals and riding the train and carousel.
Brrrrr!

The double stroller I bought when Coby was born. One of my best purchases!! Couldn't have survived without it!!
While in Price, we had to make a stop at the Dinosaur Museum. Unfortunately we didn't get Aunt Bethani in this picture. But she came with us and we enjoyed looking at dinosaurs bones, tee-pee and caveman replicas, and woolly mammoths.
Pearl and Coby were delighted to hear stories from Gram and help her work in the garden one evening.

On the way back to Lubbock, we had a 2 1/2 hour layover in the Las Vegas airport. A lot of time to kill! So we took several rides on the tram that takes you from one area of the airport to another. The first time we got on, a random man told Pearl that she could drive the tram. He said "Pull on that bar as hard as you can and the doors will close." She pulled on the bar and the doors closed. The man said "Pull on it again and the tram will go." She pulled on it again and sure enough, it went! Haha. She was delighted and wanted to keep riding so she could "drive" the tram.
Sharing some chocolate ice-cream with sprinkles on the dirty airport floor. :s This was a few hours into our layover though, so by this point, it didn't bother us much as we felt right at home.
"Daddy!! We are coming home!!"
Pearl and Coby really missed their Daddy-o! Or, as Coby calls him, "Daddy-Do!"
Their favorite thing to play with Dad in March: Hop on Pop, from the Dr. Seuss book. Poor KC has had long days and a lot of stress with a difficult schedule this month at work...only to come home and be hopped on.

Cleaning was the name of the game this month as we tried to keep our house looking nice at all times in case someone wanted to see it. I was happy we tried so hard though, when I had to show the house at a moments notice on several different occasions.
Well, not the best picture of Pearl, but it was snapped at 8:15 a.m., just before bustling out the door to make it to 8:30 a.m. church. Phew! Pearl gave her first talk in primary on this day though, so I had to capture it! We had practiced her talk some before and she was excited to give it. I wondered if she would go through with it once she stood up in front of all the kids and teachers. She did it though and it was SO cute!! She had a big smile the whole time as she talked about how Heavenly Father loves us so he sends us prophets. She talked about President Monson, and how he leads our church and is God's prophet on the earth today. I held up a few pictures for her and whispered in her ear what to say. I think she did great. It is so fun to watch her little confidence grow.
This month I have been trying desperately to catch up on Pearl's and Coby's scrapbooks. I have spent hours working on them and have gone from being 18 months behind, to being only 8 months behind. Once I catch up I am vowing NEVER to get behind again. Catching up is slow-going and gets a little painful. Anyway, while Coby was asleep and I was plugging away at scrapbooks, Pearl was coloring herself green. She said she was turning herself into The Hulk. Interesting! Good thing it was a dry erase marker and came off easily. :s
Coby is going through a not-eating-so-well phase lately. I thought I had found something he would eat and was pleased. He only took a few bites though and then proceeded to smear his yogurt on his chin from ear to ear, saying "Ho, ho, ho!" Grrrr!
Pearl and Coby were playing dress-up with Pearl's clothes and put baskets on their heads as hats. Much to the dismay of his father, Coby adored his sparkly silver skirt and kept saying "I am Tinkerbell!" Maybe Pearl needs to teach him about The Hulk. :)

These two have gotten along quite well this month. Seems they are always up to something together. Today I found them using Pearl's dresser drawer as a boat. I hope they have fun times in store as they grow up so close in age.
As of today, March 31st, our house is officially SOLD! After much debate, we accepted an offer $7000 below our asking price. The housing market in Lubbock right now is pretty bad and we didn't want to chance having to take an even lower offer. The family that is buying our house is from Taiwan. They are paying in cash and will allow the closing date to be July 1st. This makes it very nice for us because we won't have to worry about moving out earlier than we wanted to. KC's last day of work is June 30th. I feel a huge burden off my shoulders with the selling of the house underway.
