Merry Christmas 2010!!

For the first time in my life, I celebrated Christmas outside of Utah. We stayed in Lubbock this year for Christmas and, for the most part, it was just the four of us. We missed the excitement of a large group on Christmas morning, but it was really nice to be home too. Pearl is a little drowsy in this picture from Benedryl (the reason for the Benedryl is explained below). Pearl and Coby got little chairs from Santa. They were so cute, reading side by side. Whatever room they move the chairs to, they always sit them side by side. It makes me smile.
Yes, we gave KC a garbage can for Christmas. We really needed one and we thought it would be funny if he came home from Big Spring and saw a garbage can with ribbons under the tree. We got him a few nice things as well. He definitely topped me though by surprising me with a piano (of which, I'm sorry to say, I do not have a picture of yet :s ) He actually got it for free from an old church that was getting rid of it. It is an old Wurlitzer upright with chipped keys that needs tuning. I am getting it tuned next week and am so excited to brush up on my piano skills, which weren't ever amazing but I always enjoy playing anyway.
Coby got a Handy Manny toy with all the tools. He LOVES them. He hammered everything he could think of Christmas morning. He did get a little basketball and a hoop from Santa. The hoop is a little too tall for him and I was worried, when he went to put the ball in and got blocked by the rim, that he would be discouraged. But, with all the confidence of a little boy, every time he was blocked by the rim he said "Almost!" then clapped his hands and tried again.
I think Pearl's very favorite gift was a book called Pinkalicious that she got from Santa. She reads it several times every day. The girl in the book turns pink from eating too many pink cupcakes. Her parents give her a bath and call the doctor, trying to cure her. It just so happened that Pearl was broken out in hives for Christmas (and several days before and after). We still aren't certain why. But we gave her a bath and called the doctor, trying to get rid of her "pinkalicious" hives.
Pearl also got a few new dessert items for her restaurant that she named "SoSouf." It is her imaginary restaurant in the corner of her room. She plays there a lot, making food for whomever she can convince to play with her. If there aren't any takers, she serves her dolls.

  1. I love it! Goodness- we were together for a whole week, and I didn't even get a chance to hear very much about your guys' fun Christmas!! Sounds like a blast- the kids are so cute with their chairs side by side, Coby's tools, Pearl's Pinkalicious book! Poor Pearl with a rash, though- glad it went away...
